Who is the Flamingo?
My name is Robert Hassan Kahil. I am a storyteller. My world begins with a blank page in a notebook and grows with every millimeter of ink. I turn the old cliches of the literary/movie world on their head.

I blog about the experience to let people know what it is truly like to write. I never give advice. There is plenty of that out there in the world. It helps me add depth to an already complete story by giving my readers the backstory behind characters or events.

A good b-horror movie is also one of my common down times. I review them every so often to let others experience what I see. There is so much more to a cheap movie, if one cares to look. Life itself is funny that way, huh? Outside of creative writing I indulge in copy writing, market research, and data analytics.

Other Works
Working with a partner, we interviewed students at Appalachian State University about the connection between social media and their willingness to volunteer at the Watauga County American Humane Society shelter. Surveys. Interviews.
For one project, I had to analyze the market surrounding Instagram because at the time it was still relatively new, especially in regards to corporate advertising. My research covers university archives and Google Scholar. I then created an entire promotional strategy for my brand (Blu Flamingos).
