ILLUMINATE: help to clarify or explain (a subject or matter) --- found on Google’s Dictionary
Through my Social Media Strategies class (COM 3317) I am learning a lot about how to better utilize the rather large world of Social Media. We all know its big, and it does deserve the capital letters. A lot can be said about how society uses it, but this video should suffice.
Admittedly thoughts running through my head about social media are: “Ho, ho I’m a millennial I know all about social media.” I know the basics, but there are deeper, fundamental truths that need to be illuminated before entering the professional world of social media. My professor showed me these websites, and I will describe a little about them so you can use them to in your search for a less polarized #hashtag. These do mostly pertain to Twitter.
www.analytics.twitter.com is very helpful in determining how your tweets are doing. Utilizing this information, you should be able to predict and adapt your Twitter profile to make it more effective. I was surprised by the amount of impressions I have received- and shockingly (as is the same situation with my Facebook profile) my posts with pictures do not do as well- though admittedly, a picture of borax in a yogurt cup with a piece of popcorn is not very interesting. My simple photos of a screenshot of my writing seems to work though. Using this information, I may begin to add small excerpts into my posts.

www.hashtags.org lets you see how many tweets use a particular hashtag. For instance, #writing is a large part of my personal social media brand. As you can see, in a typical hour, at least four hundred tweets may use the #writing hashtag. It’s very helpful for online publishers.

www.twilert.com is effective when social media is not your job. It gives you alerts on anything you want to track via email, real time. You do have to pay for it (after a 30 day free trial), but the rapidity of it works for getting your foot in the door. This video explains it better than I can.
I do hope these help you on the journey to become a social media artisan. I am on the same path, and part of humanity is spreading a light of knowledge.
